ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – October 26, 2017 – During this season’s Nights of Lights in the Nation’s Oldest City, Old Town Trolley guests riding the famous Nights of Lights Trolley can vote for their favorite holiday lighting display in the Fifth Annual Light Up the Night! contest.
St. Augustine’s Nights of Lights has been spotlighted by national and world-wide audiences and featured in National Geographic as one of the Top 10 Places To See Holiday Lights in the world.
St. Augustine invites all holiday guests and local businesses to join together and participate in this year’s 24th Annual Nights of Lights celebration in the historic downtown district. Thousands of visitors will ride the Old Town Trolley’s Famous Nights of Lights Trolley to experience the wonderland of millions of white twinkling lights illuminating the Nation’s Oldest City, and vote for their favorite holiday lighting displays. Votes can be cast by texting “Lights” and the name of the business to 41411. Winners will be announced on Thursday, February 1.
Also, beginning Sunday, November 19 through Wednesday, December 27, Old Town Trolley presents its fifth-year partnership with St. Johns County school groups and local musical acts, including the St. Augustine Community Band. Hosted at the Visitor Information Center on select nights (see below for schedule), guests can enjoy holiday entertainment in queue for the Famous Nights of Lights Trolley. The performance venue is located at the corner of W. Castillo Dr. and San Marco Ave., 10 W. Castillo Drive in downtown St. Augustine.

Also, with guest votes tabulated for the Light Up The Night! contest, winning businesses will receive the following:
First prize winner: $1,000 in cash and media package worth $1,750 with a 1/2-page ad in Mint Magazine and 100 WSOS 103.9 radio spots.
Second prize winner: $750 in cash and media package worth $1,000 with a 1/3-page ad in Mint Magazine and 50 WSOS 103.9 radio spots.
Third prize winner: $500 in cash and media package worth $600 with a 1/4-page ad in Mint Magazine and 25 WSOS 103.9 radio spots.
Last year, the Holiday Light Display Contest Visitor Choice Awards winners included first prize recipient Casablanca Inn and Tini Martini Bar; second prize winner was Meehan’s Irish Pub, and third prize went to The Raintree Restaurant.
Old Town Trolley Tours and its partners are proud to partake in St. Augustine’s time-honored holiday traditions and celebrate this season’s Fifth Annual Light up the Night! contest. Light Up the Night! is sponsored by Old Town Trolley Tours, Mint Magazine, and WSOS 103.9 Radio, and in partnership with the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce and the Visitor’s Convention Bureau. A panel of city and county government officials as well as members of SKAL Jacksonville will participate in the final judging of the contest winners. SKAL Jacksonville is an organization that brings leaders together from the travel and tourism industry in Jacksonville and St. Johns County.
According to Dave Chatterton, Old Town Trolley Tours & Attractions of St. Augustine General Manager, this year is expected to be a huge success in terms of providing quality entertainment with the renowned Nights of Lights event and an outstanding performance lineup at the Visitor Information Center. “We are pleased to have such great music from local middle schools, high schools, and local performance groups, plus the 70-piece St. Augustine Community Band. This is a wonderful opportunity for the schools and students to showcase their talent in front of large crowds,” he said. “Additionally, visitors from all over the state, country and the world will get to see our highly-acclaimed local band programs along with learning about the priority that St. Johns County places on the arts in the schools.”
