Learn to Read Bookmark

Barnes and Noble Booksellers, 1930 U.S. 1 South, St. Augustine

A percentage (%) of all Barnes & Noble book sales and café purchases at the store that day will be donated to Learn to Read, as will online sales beginning February 4 through February 9 with the use of our voucher number (#12079729).

St. Augustine Mayor Nancy Shaver, dressed as Queen Isabella will hold story time for small and young readers.  The authors of both books will be on-hand for book signings.

1:00 p.m. Bring young children for Mayor Shaver’s reading of Susan Calfee’s book for young readers, St. Augustine A-Z, a rhyming, ABC adventure book that explores St. Augustine, Florida’s historical figures and landmarks.

1:30 p.m. Mayor Shaver reads from author M. C. Finotti’s book Paintbrushes and Arrows: A Story of St. Augustine (for middle grade and young readers). Ms. Finotti’s story takes place in 1875, when Ahkah, a 9-year-old Comanche girl, is the only child in a group of 72 Plains Indians brought to the Castillo de San Marcos for “re-education.”

2:00 p.m. Reading and book signing by author Amy Quincy from her book Misadventures of a Happy Heart: A Memoir of Life Beyond Disability

3:00 p.m. Reading and book signing by Flagler College author Leslee Keyes from her latest book Hotel Ponce de Leon: The Rise, Fall and Rebirth of Flagler’s Gilded Age Palace. Leslee is Flagler’s Director of Historic Preservation and Special Initiatives as well as Assistant Professor of History.

4:00 p.m. Reading by Sid Ansbacher, Esq., Chair-Elect of Learn To Read Board of Directors. Sid will be reading from author Benjamin Ludwig’s new book The Original Ginny Moon.
