Participation in LSJ requires commitment, what you need to know
Participants in Leadership St. Johns must commit to a high standard of attendance and participation in the retreat and program sessions. The Leadership St. Johns program consists of seven, eight-hour program days (generally 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.), a two-day overnight retreat, a closing program wrap-up, and the opening and closing receptions. Attendance at all of these events, especially the retreat, is mandatory. Excused absences of no more than 12 hours of program days may be missed to be eligible for graduation.
The most recent Class of 2016-2017 successfully created and endowed the “LSJ Alumni Scholarship Fund”, providing an on-going source of revenue to financially assist those candidates who might not otherwise be able to participate. In addition, the Class of 2016-2017 thoroughly scrubbed and updated the alumni database dating back to the Program’s inception in 2000. This database – accessible only to LSJ graduates - provides current and invaluable contact information for every Program graduate.
The Class of 2017-2018 will plan and execute a class project which meets the following criteria: 1) Draws in/engages alumni participation; 2) Raises the endowment for the LSJ Alumni Scholarship Fund; 3) Recruits potential new class members. The genesis of these goals was embodied in the Class of 2016-2017 Project which provides scholarships to those participants who would otherwise be unable to participate in the LSJ Program.
